My Dreams

I’ve seen my dreams come crashing down
I’ve seen them scattered on the floor —
I’ve gathered the pieces and sworn myself.
Still I dare to dream more…

The corridor of time has led me
From a history of ashes
To the questions of now
But my dreams survive somehow…

And then I’ve found poetry —
Like a morning rose.
It has saved my heart forever,
And stung me like a bee.
And then I’ve found poetry in me…

My heart is etched with memories
Of lost friends and broken strings —
And their last thoughts —
Every living day their memory rots…

I have thought of dying;
I have been through death —
Love has been my guide;
I have been my own protection
Through every lonely night —
Because I’ve chosen life instead…

The corridor of time has led me
From a history of ashes
To the questions of now
But my dreams survive somehow…
